Building regulation amendments to boundary walls

Friday December 20 2013

Amendments have been made to the minimum setback and average height standards for boundary walls not requiring a planning permit.

The average height of a boundary wall allowed without a planning permit will be increased from 3.0 to 3.2 metres under the reform. The maximum height of boundary walls is unchanged at 3.6 metres. Neighbours will be notified of any application to exceed boundary wall average or maximum heights, as per existing requirements.
