VBA welcomes new Commissioner

The Victorian Building Authority (VBA) welcomes a new Commissioner to the Board.

Mr Warren Hutcheon has over 30 years of experience in the insurance and risk industry and has held senior executive roles in both private and public sectors.
 
Mr Hutcheon is currently Chief Executive Officer of Ansvar Insurance and a member of their Australian Board. He was previously CEO of the Victorian Managed Insurance Authority which provides risk and insurance services for the Government of Victoria.

VBA Chief Commissioner Bill Kusznirczuk says he is pleased to have Mr Hutcheon join the VBA Board. 

“Mr Hutcheon brings to the VBA Board a broad understanding of organisational change, risk and insurance across public and private sectors” said the Chief Commissioner Kusznirczuk.

“We are very pleased to have him as part of the VBA Board.”

Since the establishment of the Victorian Building Authority on 1 July 2013, the organisation has taken positive steps to create efficient and effective building and plumbing industries in Victoria including instituting a Field Based Compliance Program, a Building Permit Audit and developing preparatory work for the sun-setting of the Building Regulations 2006 due in 2016 .

Mr Hutcheon joins a Board of seven Commissioners which is responsible for the governance and strategic management of the VBA to ensure its effectiveness as a regulator. The VBA Board reports to the Minister for Planning.
