Registrations open for the Building Industry Seminar Series 2016
Friday, 22 April 2016
Registrations are now open for the Victorian Building Authority's Building Industry Seminar Series 2016.
The VBA Building Industry Seminar Series will deliver expert technical and regulatory advice and information on current matters shaping the building industry, including:
- Building Code of Australia 2016
- Changes to the National Construction Code
- Key changes and updates made to existing Building Practice Notes
- New Building Act proposed changes (Reforms)
- VBA complaints and inspections activities
New Seminar format
This year, the VBA is pleased to introduce a new format for the building industry seminar series, one that will allow the seminars to be more interactive and focused on the issues that are most important to industry practitioners.
The VBA has produced a series of short, online videos for attendees to view prior to the seminars. The online presentations will cover:
BCA Volume One – major changes include exemptions for farm buildings and deemed to satisfy provisions for mid-rise timber building construction;
BCA Volume Two – major changes include a rewording of the general provisions, structural robustness and requirements for dwellings above a non-appurtenant garage.
Referenced standards – including new standards being published for the first time, and amended standards.
Attendees will be invited to watch the online videos (or the relevant sections) prior to the seminars, and to submit questions or matters for discussion to the VBA. Questions and comments submitted will be addressed in detail through workshop and panel sessions at the seminars.
More information on the new format and access to the online presentations will be provided following registration.
Places at the seminars are strictly limited. Please choose from the seminars listed below to register for one of these free events.
