Plumbing registration and licence renewal
When it is time to renew your registration or licence, you can do so through the VBA practitioner online portal, eToolbox. The eToolbox user guide outlines the steps required to complete your renewal process.
Alternatively, when it is time for you to renew, the VBA will send you a renewal notice to complete and submit.
Remember: It is the practitioner's responsibility to alert the VBA if your mailing address changes to avoid any lost communications. The VBA does not waiver the late fee when a practitioner does not receive their renewal letter.
If you are renewing a plumbing registration
Plumbing registrations must be renewed every three years if you intend to continue carrying out plumbing work.
If you are renewing a plumbing licence
Plumbing licences must be renewed annually if you intend to continue carrying out plumbing work.
When renewing a plumbing licence, you must provide a certificate of currency as proof of your insurance cover. For more information regarding Insurance requirements please visit our 'Plumbing Insurance Requirements' page here.
Once the VBA has received your application for renewal, we may contact you (via email or letter) to ask the following;
- For more information
- For you to attend an examination
- For you to attend an interview.
Please note: If you do not renew your registration or licence before it expires, you will be deemed to be unregistered or unlicensed from your expiry date.
Your registration or licence cannot be backdated if you have renewed after expiry has already occurred. Plumbing work is not to be undertaken during any time of expiry. Plumbers with an expired licence cannot purchase a compliance certificate.
If your registration or licence has been cancelled, please complete and submit to the VBA via mail or email a Reinstatement of Accreditation form.
If you wish to change your registration or licence type, please complete and submit to the VBA via mail or email a Change of Accreditation form.
If you did not receive a renewal notice in the mail, and need to renew urgently, please complete and submit to the VBA via mail or email a Renewal of Accreditation form.
