Submissions on new building regulations close 13 June 2014

Wednesday, 11 June 2014

The VBA and the Department of Transport, Planning and Local Infrastructure (DTPLI) are engaging with building practitioners as part of the sunsetting process for the Building Regulations 2006.
This is the first stage of the sunsetting process, which involves collecting and evaluating evidence about how the current regulations are working and what changes could be made to improve them. The VBA and DTPLI have written to a range of industry stakeholder groups inviting their participation and feedback.
This stage is an opportunity for the industry and consumers to contribute to ensuring Victoria has building regulations that are comprehensive, robust and sustainable for the next 10 years.
Building practitioners can put forward their thoughts on what is working, what is not and what changes they would like to see and why through their industry association. Please contact them to find out how they would like to capture your opinion.

Practitioners who don’t belong to an industry organisation and consumers can provide their input via the submission template on the VBA website.
The closing date for submissions is Friday, 13 June 2014.

Note: There will be further opportunity to provide input on the draft regulations and the Regulatory Impact Statement (RIS) in 2015.
