Proactive Inspections team visit site of North Melbourne wall collapse

Monday, 2 May 2016

The Victorian Building Authority's Proactive Inspection team is working with WorkSafe inspectors to understand how a wall collapsed at a North Melbourne building site on 20 April.

The Royal Park Hotel on Queensbury Street was being demolished. Work had already been stopped when it collapsed bringing bricks down on to a footpath. No one was injured but the VBA will determine whether any lapse of compliance with the regulations may have been a contributing factor and, if that is suspected to be the case, launch an investigation of the conduct of the practitioners involved.
