VBA at the HIA Home Show and Business Forum

Monday, 2 May 2016

Even in the multi-media era, talking directly to practitioners and consumers remains the best way to understand their issues, according to VBA Director Enquiries and Dispute Resolution David Wolf. David and fellow VBA Director Jarrod Edwards, spoke to practitioners at the HIA Building and Business Forum while VBA staff spoke with consumers at the HIA Home Show.

The events give the VBA the chance to discuss the important changes that the industry is going through including the introduction of new legislation under the Building Legislation Amendment (Consumer Protection) Bill 2015. The reforms will have a major impact and explaining those changes is a key focus for the VBA.

"We attend major events like this but also smaller member nights because it's at these where we get the best feedback," said David.

"The HIA Home Show is one of Melbourne's biggest home maker and renovator events drawing tens of thousands of idea seekers. People come in looking for inspiration for their new home or new renovation so it's important we're there to help them understand what they need to know and do to remain compliant with the regulations."
