Compliance with the regulations and codes will protect the integrity of the building and plumbing industries and build confidence in them.

That's the foundation philosophy of a new advertising campaign from the Victorian Building Authority going live in the next few weeks.

As it approaches its third anniversary, the VBA is a relatively new kid on the regulatory block and has recognised that practitioners will benefit from a greater understanding of the role it plays. Consumers also need to know where to go to get the information they need when they need it.

"It's important the VBA is known to both the public and practitioners so we're able to help them navigate the regulations that are pertinent to their particular projects," said Prue Digby, VBA CEO.

"Consumers only need to use the VBA occasionally but they need to know we are here and able to help. Practitioners know us because we manage their registration process. And of course, our advice is always "Only use a registered practitioner". But we can also help practitioners to be compliant with the regulations by providing the information they need.

"The advertising campaign, which centres mainly on a mix of digital, radio and trade publications, will help us become more accessible and therefore help increase regulatory compliance and that will build confidence."
