Bushfire audit findings

Masterclass
Introducing the first masterclass in our Practitioner Education Series. A series that supports industry with practical insights, evidence-based strategies and resources.

As a result of the audit conducted by the VBA of domestic dwellings in bushfire prone areas, we have identified a quality gap in the documentation and assessment of proposed works to construct new dwellings in accordance with AS 3959.  This webinar will report the findings of the audit and discuss methods on how all practitioners involved in the design, certification, and construction of dwellings in bushfire prone areas can help to eliminate these issues. Keesje will explore the areas of non-compliance and discuss how to best overcome these.

About the presenter

Keesje completed studying a Bachelor of Construction Management and a Graduate Diploma in Building Surveying.

He worked as a building surveyor in local governments in Western Australian, including those that were at the forefront of introducing the requirements in bushfire prone areas before state-wide provisions were introduced.

Keesje is registered as a Level 1 Building Surveying Practitioner in WA and joined the VBA in 2019 as a Building Auditor and is now the Acting Manager of Building Audit.
