VBA prepares for a new compliance certificate service

The VBA has been working closely with industry groups and licensed plumbing practitioners to prepare for the launch of a new compliance certificate service this financial year.

The new compliance certificate service comes as part of a major IT system overhaul for the VBA, which aims to deliver a more streamlined and effective regulatory service for practitioners. The benefits of the new system will include:

  • Fewer delays and downtime so plumbers can purchase, allocate and lodge compliance certificates anytime and day of the week.
  • Ability to make changes to a compliance certificate after it has been lodged and track version control.
  • Ability to store credit card details for future purchases.

"The industry forums have provided important insights that will help the VBA to launch the new service with minimal business interruption to practitioners," said Jeff Gilmore, Director, Licensing and Registration.

"The VBA will be preparing detailed user guides and instructional material to make sure plumbing practitioners have all the information they need well before the new service launches."

Initially the new platform will run in addition to eToolbox. This means that for a short period of time, practitioners will need to use two systems to conduct business. The VBA will continue to meet with industry groups and licensed plumbing practitioners to understand how best to prepare plumbers for the new service.

Are your contact details up-to-date?

The VBA will be communicating directly with licensed practitioners in the coming months about the new system and what the changes mean for them and their business.

The VBA encourages plumbers to make sure that their contact details are up-to-date in eToolbox so that they don't miss out on important information from the VBA.

Plumbing practitioners will also be able to find out more about the new compliance certificate service at the upcoming VBA and ESV Plumbing Industry Seminar Series 2017. Practitioners can register here.
