During winter, the Victorian Building Authority partnered with Energy Safe Victoria and Master Plumbers to deliver a targeted Carbon Monoxide Safety Program for all Victorian gasfitters.

The free program taught participants how to accurately conduct a carbon monoxide spillage test, identify and resolve negative air pressure, and ensure the safe operation of a gas appliance.

In mid-September, the Safety Program entered a new phase, with the state’s 21,000 gasfitters required to complete an online learning module to enhance their skills and knowledge around the crucial testing and maintenance of gas heaters.

So far, more than 15,500 practitioners have completed the module. This is an enormous effort, so thank you to everyone in this group.

If you still need to complete the learning module, please do so as soon as possible. Remember, completion of the module is a requirement for renewal in the main class of gasfitting and the specialised Type A classes.

If you are having trouble accessing the Carbon Monoxide Learning Module, please email combustionspillage@vba.vic.gov.au or call us on 1300 815 127.
