Overhead clearance requirements for gas cooking appliances
Overhead clearance requirements for gas cooking appliances
The VBA reminds practitioners to follow manufacturers’ instructions when installing gas cooking appliances, exhaust fans and rangehoods, as minimum clearance requirements apply.
Installing an appliance with less clearance than recommended (see clearance A, below) risks damage to surroundings from conducted or radiated heat, fire arising from flare-ups during cooking, and potential appliance failure due to excessive heat being transferred to any electrical components. Such outcomes could potentially void product warranties and plumbing practitioners’ insurance.
