A summary of VBA prosecutions, show cause notices, notices of decision, permit levy audits, proactive inspections and plumbing activities for the week.

Show Cause Notices

  • One show cause notice issued for alleged breaches of the Building Act and Domestic Building Contracts Act, including “licence lending”.

Notices of Decision

  • One notice of decision (involving three separate sites) issued for alleged breaches of the Building Act and the Domestic Building Contracts Act. Penalties are $12,500, plus three months’ suspension and a direction to undertake training.

Levy Audit

  • 19 site visits to train building surveyors.

Proactive Inspections

  • 158 inspections in 29 municipalities.

Plumbing Audits

  • Audits: 107
  • Re-audits: 25
  • Inspections: 12
  • Re-inspections: 0

Statewide Cladding Audit

  • 84 inspections completed across nine municipalities.
  • Six panels completed, of which three were rated High, two were rated Moderate and one was rated Low.
  • 18 inspections scheduled for the week commencing Monday, 22 July 2019.
