Online registration and licence renewal for plumbers

The Victorian Building Authority’s (VBA) online renewal portal offers a real time, safe and convenient way for plumbers to renew their licence or registration.

The portal has a secure payment gateway, enabling payment by credit or debit card and accepts Visa or Mastercard.

Once an online renewal is completed, practitioners will receive a new ID card by post within three weeks.

We encourage you to share this information with your members and colleagues to make their licence and registration renewals more efficient.

Licensed Plumbers

Licensed plumbers can renew using the portal up to eight weeks before their licence expiry date. However, licensed plumbers must first provide the VBA with a certificate of currency confirming they hold the required insurance for the upcoming renewal period.

Once a practitioner has received this document from their insurer, they should email it to plumbingreg@vba.vic.gov.au. Our team will then review the document, generally within 2-5 business days after receipt, to confirm the insurance cover meets all requirements.

Once the VBA confirms a practitioner’s insurance policy meets all requirements, an email is sent to advise they can proceed to renew online. Please note, practitioners holding a private plumbing work licence can also use the online portal to renew.

Registered Plumbers

Registered plumbers are not required to provide a certificate of currency for their renewal and can use the online renewal portal as soon as eight weeks before their registration expires.

How to use the online renewal portal
