Find a practitioner
If you’re looking to hire a builder, building practitioner or plumber in your local area, it’s important to make sure they are registered or licensed to do the work you need.
In Victoria, you’ll need to use a registered builder or building company for domestic building work worth more than $10,000. But if the job involves only one type of work (such as painting or glazing), the person or company you use does not need to be registered.
If you are in need of a plumber, always check that their registration or licence allows them to do the work you need.
Find out if a building practitioner or plumbing practitioner is working in Victoria under the Automatic Mutual Recognition (AMR) scheme by using the AMR Register. These links can also be used to check if an AMR practitioner is subject to disciplinary action in their home state or territory.
You can also check whether a building industry professional, building company or plumber has had any disciplinary action taken against them.
