Prosecutions
An unregistered building company was convicted and fined $60,000 by the Broadmeadows Magistrates’ Court for 12 breaches of the Building Act 1993 and Domestic Building Contracts Act 1995.
A man who carried out domestic building work while unregistered and without the required insurance was fined $7500 by the Dandenong Magistrates’ Court for three breaches of the Building Act 1993. The man also promoted himself as a qualified builder.

Statewide Cladding Audit
22 inspections were completed, five within the City of Melbourne and 17 in other municipalities.
Four expert panels were conducted. From these, one building was rated extreme risk, with a recommendation to evacuate the building. Two other buildings were rated high risk and one building was rated moderate risk.
