Plumbing licence renewals – save time and renew online

Pipe infrastructure
Autumn is the peak time for plumbing licence renewals – and the Victorian Building Authority is launching a new campaign urging the state’s licensed plumbers to save time by renewing online.

With around 6500 licence renewals due between March and June, plumbers can take advantage of the VBA’s online portal, eToolbox, to renew their licence in real time, lodge their evidence of insurance and update their contact details.

Here’s what all licensed plumbers need to know.

Before you renew

We’ll remind you to start the renewals process eight weeks before your plumbing licence expires. This gives you sufficient time to contact your insurance provider and obtain an updated Certificate of Currency.

Once you have received your updated Certificate of Currency, email it to plumbingreg@vba.vic.gov.au so we can confirm your insurance cover meets our requirements. This usually takes around three business days.

Once we have updated your practitioner record, we’ll let you know you can renew your licence via eToolbox.

Using eToolbox

To renew, simply follow these four steps:

  1. Log in to eToolbox using your user ID and password (your user ID is your plumbing practitioner number).
  2. Choose Renew Online from the left-hand menu of the home screen.
  3. Complete the practitioner declaration section.
  4. Provide your payment details.

You can also update your contact details if required.

Once processed, we will send you your new practitioner ID card within two weeks.
