Annual fees and insurance
Building practitioners must pay an annual fee and provide proof that they hold the required insurance to be able to continue carrying out building work in Victoria.
Annual fees
The VBA will send you a reminder by email six weeks before the due date of your annual fee. To pay your annual fee:
- Log in to VBA and pay your fees on the 'Registration and Licensing’ page.

Insurance
All building practitioners, except for project manager (domestic) and commercial builders, are required to provide updated insurance annually or prior to their insurance expiry.
The VBA will send you a reminder by email six weeks before you are required to provide your updated proof that you continue to be covered by the required insurance.
To provide updated proof of insurance:
- Log in to VBA and upload your insurance documents on the Manage insurance page.

Failure to pay your annual fee or provide the required insurance
If you fail to pay your annual fee or provide evidence that you are covered by the required insurance by the due date, the VBA must suspend your registration.
